Control Performance – a new group & video case study
Last week I asked industry experts to create groups on My.Automation.com where automation professionals can have dialogs on various topics relating to automation. While we gained a few new members to the site, only one industry expert (Thanks, George) stepped up to the plate to create a Control Performance group. George Buckbee of Expertune is moderator of this new group and is standing by to answer questions on the topic.
In George’s own words…
“This group acts as a forum to discuss topics of control system performance. This typically includes topics related to sensors, instruments, controllers, valves, alarming, configuration, and tuning as they relate to the overall performance of the control system. The performance of a control system can be measured many ways, but ultimately must be related to the impact to the business: quality, throughput, reliability, cost, etc. Feel free to jump in with questions on topics in this arena.”
I know Control Performance has been a hot topic because it has literally been the main focus of all the user conferences in the past year. I encourage end-users, systems integrators and other suppliers to participate in this new group and forum. To participate, you will first need to become a member of the site and join the group. For your convenience, click this link to become a member. Once you become a member, browse to the Groups section of the site and click on Control Performance. Anyone and everyone can create new posts in this group that George and other industry experts can respond to.
As I mentioned last week, I can and will be pretty persistent with pestering all of you to join My.Automation.com and participate. There is no other place in our industry where you can find such an open forum and opportunity to network with other automation professionals and industry experts - 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
BTW, when you do become a member, make sure you upload a picture. It doesn’t have to be a picture of you…it can be a picture of a logo, your favorite item, hobby, etc. Right now, members do not show up as “new members” unless there is an image associated with their profile. This image will become your icon and will be used as your signature whenever you participate on the site. No inappropriate photos, please.
You may have noticed that we are displaying videos on the site now. Expertune is also the first company to participate with this new offering of information exchange. The video, a case study on plant performance improvement, can be found on our Home Page in the center column. You can’t miss it. Plus, we will soon be displaying videos on our Product Portals. We anticipate showing multiple videos from various suppliers on these product portal topics.
We are constantly working to stay on the leading edge of Internet developments. Stay tuned for other exciting new developments.
Enjoy the rest of this eNews!
