The IEEE 802.3an-2006 standard for 10GBASE-T defines an application standard for 10 Gb/s data transmission over copper twisted pair cabling of up to 100m, and allows use of both unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and shielded twisted pair (STP) copper cabling systems.
