MYNAH's MiMiC v3.1.0 Simulation Software

MYNAH’s MiMiC v3.1.0 Simulation Software

MYNAH's MiMiC v3.1.0 Simulation Software for operator training and automation system testing includes enhancements that provide greater simulation dynamics, performance and ease-of-use. It provides multi-user support, with up to ten users with remote access for simulation development, large-scale automation system testing, or multiple operator training instructor stations.

The enhanced MiMiC Operator Training Manager is a complete redesign that simplifies the development and execution of operator training sessions while providing additional flexibility and capabilities. Training sessions and process snapshots can be loaded and run from the graphical MiMiC Component Studio, which provides the full functionality of an operator training instructor station with the ability to drive ad-hoc training scenarios.

An enhanced OPC Server is a standard part of MiMiC v3.1.0, allowing open access to process models, operator training scenarios, process snapshot controls, and global registers, allowing integration with 3rd-party simulation packages or data visualization systems like plant dashboards.

Do PLCs Eliminate Need for a DCS?
By Bill Lydon, Contributing Editor
In the past it was fairly easy to determine whether a PLC or a DCS was right for an application but in recent years this has become more difficult. It is argued that more powerful PLC products coupled with new software tools provide an integrated process control system rivaling a distributed control system (DCS) for process control applications.
