exida enhances exSILentia functional safety lifecycle tool

November 11, 2010 - exida released V3.0 of its exSILentia functional safety lifecycle engineering tool.

The enhancements allow users to follow the entire functional safety lifecycle for the first time using a single tool. The improvements include a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), expanded ability to import PHA results, automatic generation of proof test specifications, lifecycle cost evaluator, failure data collection / evaluation, and a checklist to show compliance with the IEC 61511 / ISA 84 standard.

A new GUI, the ability to specify Partial Stroke Test intervals, MooN (M out of N) architectures for Safety Instrumented Functions and risk graph and frequency based SIL targets round out the enhancements to the tool’s existing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Selection, SIL Verification and Safety Requirement Specification (SRS).
