Schneider Electric introduces ConneXview network diagnostic software
PALATINE, Ill. — February 8, 2007 — Schneider Electric today announced the availability of the Telemecanique® brand ConneXview™ industrial Ethernet diagnostic software, offering customers industrial network management that is both powerful and user-friendly.

The ConneXview software combines the power of IT-based network management programs with the web-based power and control technology of Schneider Electric’s Transparent Ready communications platform to provide a tool specifically designed to map, monitor and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet networks. More than just a simple tool to visualize networks, ConneXview software allows users to perform a wide variety of intelligent functions to keep network traffic moving at peak efficiency and entire factories moving at optimum productivity.

“The ConneXview software offers IT professionals and control engineers in industrial manufacturing facility and infrastructure settings a convenient tool specifically designed for network management in the automation environment, helping to increase overall productivity and decrease maintenance costs,” said Richard Hutton, senior product marketing specialist of Schneider Electric North America.

This new software system offers customers automatic device discovery, as well as Ethernet device (SNMP) and control-network device (Modbus/TCP) mapping. In addition, it has an easy-to-use color enhanced graphical interface with convenient task panels for device status, settings and alarms, and topological visual graphics.

Other benefits of the ConneXview industrial Ethernet diagnostic software include increased overall productivity with easy-to-use diagnostics that speed the identification and resolution of problems by instantly recognizing Ethernet segments and device issues via color codes and automatically prioritizing and notifying administrators using e-mail messaging.

Additionally, the ConneXview software offers expanded functionality with the device-type editor, including the ability to add third-party devices to the library using unique device names for increased recognition. The intuitive and ergonomic design also minimizes end-user training and decreases maintenance costs.

Headquartered in Palatine, Ill., the North American Operating Division of Schneider Electric had sales of $2.8 billion (U.S.) in 2005. The North American Operating Division is one of four operating divisions of Schneider Electric, headquartered in Paris, France, and markets the Square D, Telemecanique and Merlin Gerin brand products to customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In the United States, Schneider Electric is best known by its flagship Square D brand, with Telemecanique becoming increasingly known in the industrial control and automation markets and supported by many Square D distributors. For 100 years, Square D has been a market-leading brand of electrical distribution and industrial control products, systems and services. Schneider Electric is a global electrical industry leader with 2005 sales of approximately $14.5 billion (U.S.).
