Igus announces Interior separating options for Energy Chain Systems
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – March 1, 2007 – To keep cables separated and free from premature wear, igus offers modular separation components that can be easily incorporated into any Energy Chain System. Separators, shelves and spacers, or often a combination of the three, create individual compartments for cables housed within the carrier. Available in both vertical and horizontal arrangements, using separation components inside an Energy Chain System prevents cables and hoses from chafing, twisting and corkscrewing and as a result, significantly extends their service life.

While specifying an Energy Chain System, customers have a number of options. If vertical compartmentalization of cables and hoses is vital, adjustable separators can be placed along the cross section of any Energy Chain. Spacers also can be added to maintain the distance between each separator and work especially well on Energy Chains in side-mounted applications.

For applications involving numerous cables, shelves can be used in combination with separators to create additional compartments. Full-width shelves insert horizontally into the separator’s slots and are ideal for organizing thin cables with similar or identical diameters. For Energy Chain Systems housing cables with a wide range of diameters, adding interior shelving is recommended. Interior shelves can be placed between any two vertical separators to further segment individual compartments.

Modular separation solutions that can be customized by the user are available for both Energy Chains and Energy Tubes.
