Pleasanton, Calif. – May 1, 2007 – Transpara and SmartSignal enable joint customers to access critical performance-monitoring data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on any mobile device.

Transpara’s Visual KPI operations intelligence software delivers on-demand, business-critical data about process manufacturing and utility operations to any handheld or desktop browser: SmartPhones, PDAs and Blackberry devices. Connecting Visual KPI to the SmartSignal Solution enables customers such as KeySpan Corporation and Allegheny Energy, Inc. to further extend the ROI on their SmartSignal investments by giving them access to dynamic Watchlists and real-time Predictive Analytics on any mobile device.

“One of our biggest challenges has been to present information from new technology systems without taking our operators, technicians, mechanics, foremen and engineers out of the field to look at it,” said John Ragone, automation manager, Electric Production Department of KeySpan Corporation. “What if, for example, we were talking about personal health instead of a turbine: heart rate, temperature and blood pressure would be monitored and available to a team of specialists. No matter where these specialists were, they would have the ability to monitor hundreds of patients’ data simultaneously and collaborate with the rest of the health team to provide the best possible recommendations in real-time, if a patient were to deviate from expected baselines. The same benefits can be applied to the plant floor. With Visual KPI, it’s all about team collaboration and the data is as close as a cell phone – that’s awesome. Organizations can timeshare all the skill sets of subject matter experts at a fraction of the cost to have them available to you exclusively…. home run!”

“By supporting a native interface to SmartSignal, Transpara enables customers to stay on top of the most critical equipment health issues no matter where they are,” said James Gagnard, President and CEO, SmartSignal. “Customers trust SmartSignal as their go-to solution for reducing unplanned downtime and improving maintenance programs. By extending SmartSignal’s Watchlist and additional operational data to mobile devices, Transpara significantly improves business performance, putting information at customers’ fingertips exactly when they need it and expanding users’ ability to act on warnings about potential equipment and process problems in advance.”

With Visual KPI, users can easily create and customize composite KPIs and scorecards using data from any combination of existing systems – including OSIsoft’s PI System, SQL Server, Oracle, OLE DB and Web Services – and publish them for instant use by anyone in the organization or supply chain, from plant floor managers to executives. By delivering actionable, decision-support information directly to the responsible user, Visual KPI offers real-time insight into organizational performance, increasing uptime and lowering business risk.
