Danfoss expands VLT AutomationDrive line
May 11, 2007 - LOVES PARK, IL - Danfoss Drives’ VLT® AutomationDrive variable frequency drives are now available in the 75 - 100 HP power range at 380-480/500 VAC. This power extension covers IP21 (NEMA 1) and IP55 (NEMA 12) rated enclosures. Additionally, 7.5 HP and 15-50 HP models are available, both at 200-240 VAC.

“The VLT AutomationDrive features an innovative, modular design that can effectively handle every motor control requirement from a single product platform. This flexibility allows users with varying manufacturing process demands to install a single type of drive for any industrial process application, while keeping maintenance costs and user complexity at a minimum, and maximizing production efficiency,” says Tom Momberger, Product Manager. Danfoss uses a unique mass customization manufacturing process that enables a new unit to be built and tested within two hours, in most cases with next-day delivery.

The VLT AutomationDrive monitors, analyzes and controls production to ensure continuous, smooth operation. The user can program it to adapt to complex operations at various points in the line using the built-in Smart Logic Controller for essential control functions or an optional MCO Programmable Logic Controller for advanced operations. Combining the two solutions allows the user to replace external PLC equipment in most situations, lowering costs and making installation easier.

The controller is simple to configure and enables the drive, motor and application to work together through a preprogrammed chain of events, or by monitoring peripheral devices such as load sensors, photoelectric sensors, dancers, encoders, or other common feedback devices.

Danfoss is a leading manufacturer of precision mechanical and electrical components, with locations in more than 120 countries. Danfoss created the VLT name when they introduced the world’s first mass-produced VFD in 1968, and the name has set the standard for high performance quality variable frequency drives ever since.
