June 18, 2007 - Nakanishi Inc.'s HTS1501S is a revolution in high-speed machining spindles. The HTS1501S incorporates a high precision air turbine to deliver 150,000 rpm. The HTS1501S combines an air turbine with ceramic bearings and a high accuracy spindle which results in extremely high speed, very low vibration, high rigidity and dimensional stability.
State of the art design, engineering and Nakanishi Inc.'s many years of expertise in high speed and micro machining have been combined to deliver a product that offers unparalleled capabilities. High speed machining with very small diameter tools of hard and difficult to machine materials is now possible.
Heat management and dimensional stability have always been problems in high speed spindles. The HTS1501S' air turbine solves these problems; the spindle does not grow in the Z axis it actually shrinks slightly, less than 2µm.
During internal testing Nakanishi Inc. has achieved depths of cut and feed rates 2-3 times more than cutting tool manufacturers recommend, while also achieving much longer than normal tool life. It is possible to run very high feed rates with extremely small tools such as Ø0.1mm.
