Banner releases PresencePLUS PROII two-piece vision sensor
Minneapolis, MN - July 13, 2007 - Banner Engineering Corp. introduces PresencePLUS® Pro—PROII, with an expanded toolset for advanced operations using Banner’s robust PresencePLUS Pro vision cameras. All PROII controllers include the powerful suite of gray scale tools—including Locate, Pattern Find and Count, Geometric Find and Count, Edge, Object, Blob, Average Gray Scale and optional Bar Code Reader—for the most demanding inspections. Color models include the Color Match tool for detecting an infinite number of color variations accurately.

The Pro features a DIN-mountable controller with a compact camera. Standard gray scale cameras are available for accurate analysis at high speeds and the high resolution 1.3 megapixel models feature 1280 x 1024 resolution for extra detail or extended sensing field of view. Color cameras offer a 752 x 480 resolution for detecting a specific color and unlimited color variations in the cameras field of view. In addition, sealed IP68-rated cameras are available for challenging industrial and washdown environments.

“The Pro offers the broadest range of inspection and analysis tools to solve nearly any inspection challenge,” said Dan Holste, director for Banner Vision Sensors. “With the intuitive PresencePLUS, configuring advanced sensing applications is faster and easier than ever before, while common applications are virtually plug-and-play.” Holste adds, “Priced as low as $2295 for a controller and camera, Banner brings affordable and easy to learn vision sensing technology to all sensor specifiers.”

Applications. The PresencePLUS Pro accurately solves many different factory applications, making it ideal for a wide range of industries. Examples include the following:
  • Pharmaceutical vial cap and package inspection
  • Presence and location of automotive components on dashboard trim pieces
  • Full case detection and cap color inspection on packaging lines
  • 2D stamped bar code verification on metal parts
  • Large area verification for sorting and die protection in tire manufacturing
  • Label verification and positioning in bottling applications
  • Food packaging error proofing
  • Automotive handle color inspection

Several features of the Pro make it particularly easy to set up and operate:
  • Universal PresencePLUS software with three-step point and click setup
  • Complete suite of tools for simultaneously inspecting multiple features and for complex applications
  • Multiple inspection routines, stores and accessed without a PC
  • Ethernet, serial and flexible discrete I/O in the same full-featured sensor
  • ActiveX utilities for exporting inspections, images and results
  • Direct connectivity to EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP industrial networks
  • Live video display without a PC
  • Remote TEACH
  • Compact camera with separate DIN-mountable controller
  • Convenient 20-pin removable terminal block
  • Fourteen configurable discrete I/O (NPN/PNP)
  • A complete selection of lenses, lighting, brackets and accessories
  • 10 to 30V dc operation

A family of affordable vision sensors. Banner's extensive line of PresencePLUS vision sensors includes two- and one-piece, standard- and high-resolution, monochrome and color, and single- and multi-purpose vision sensors. Banner also offers sealed, IP68-rated cameras for challenging washdown environments, as well as lighting, lenses, brackets and other accessories. One reason Banner’s PresencePLUS vision sensor products are so successful is because they all share a user interface considered the most intuitive on the market today. It is available in nine languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. With the PresencePLUS’s intuitive interface, even operators with only basic computer skills can easily set up an inspection.

About Banner. Banner Engineering is the world’s leading manufacturer of vision sensors, photoelectric and ultrasonic sensors, electronic machine guarding systems, fiber optic assemblies and precision measurement systems.
