Edmonton, Alberta July 12, 2007 - Matrikon announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Eric Rosenfeld of New York-based Crescendo Partners L.P., as a director, effective immediately.
"We are pleased to welcome Eric to Matrikons board," said Hugh Bolton, Chairman of Matrikon. "We see Erics experience with building shareholder value, particularly in the technology sector, as a complement to the existing skill set of our board members and look forward to his valuable input.
Mr. Rosenfeld has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Crescendo Partners L.P., a New York based investment firm, since its formation in 1998. Crescendo owns approximately 10% of the issued and outstanding shares of Matrikon.
Prior to forming Crescendo Partners, he held the position of Managing Director at CIBC Oppenheimer and its predecessor company Oppenheimer & Co., Inc for fourteen years.
Mr. Rosenfeld has extensive public market experience and currently serves on the following boards:
CPI Aerostructures Inc., an American Stock Exchange-listed structural aircraft parts producer: Chairman of the board and chairman of the strategic planning committee
Computer Horizons Corp., a Nasdaq-listed IT services company: Chairman of the board
Rhapsody Acquisition Corporation: Chairman of the board and CEO
Emergis Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed electronic commerce company: director
Hill International, a Nasdaq-listed construction management firm: director
Mr. Rosenfeld has also served as a director to the following companies:
Sierra Systems Group Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed information technology, management consulting and systems integration firm which was acquired in early 2007.
Geac Computer Corporation Limited, a Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq-listed enterprise software company which was sold in 2006.
Pivotal Corporation, a Vancouver based customer relations management software company.
AD OPT Technologies, Inc., a Montreal-based workforce planning, scheduling and management software solutions company which was sold to Kronos in 2004.
Spar Aerospace Limited, as Chairman of the board from 1999 through 2001.
Mr. Rosenfeld is a regular guest lecturer at the Columbia Business School and he is a faculty member at the Directors College. He has served on numerous panels at Queens University Business Law School Symposia, McGill Law School, the World Presidents Organization , the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association Conference and the Canadian Foundation for Investor Education. He has also been a regular guest host on CNBC. Mr. Rosenfeld received an MBA from Harvard University and an AB degree in economics from Brown University.
Matrikon also announces that David Kramer has resigned from the board effective immediately in order to become an employee of Matrikon. He will report to president and CEO Nizar J. Somji and will be focused on special projects.
While we are sad to lose Davids valuable contribution as a member of the board, we are pleased that he will continue with Matrikon in a role that will benefit from his skills and experience. We thank him for his three years of service as a director, stated Bolton.
