Moxa introduces AWK-1200 Wireless Access Point for Outdoor use
Brea, CA, July 23, 2007 - MOXA introduced the latest in outdoor multipurpose wireless Access Point/ Bridge and AP Client, AWK-1200 series, which is housed in a rugged IP68/67 certified weatherproof enclosure to withstand any extreme climatic conditions. The robust features and deployment flexibility make the AWK-1200 a natural fit for the outdoor wireless connectivity.

Weatherproof Design, Flexible Deployment and Maximum Security
Moxa Wireless technology continues to evolve for today’s industrial wireless applications that are no longer limited to indoor application. For outdoors wireless applications such as wind energy plants or road tunnels, reliable and rugged design are key features required to guard against the harmful effects caused by rain, dust, and hot temperatures. Fully compliant with IEEE802.11 g/b, the AWK-1200 is available in two different models: one is industrial IEEE802.11g/b wireless Access Point/Bridge, and the other is industrial AP Client. The robust mechanical design offers the seamless protection against the effects of dust and water. Flexible deployment can be achieved by the IEEE802.3af PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) without the need of expensive electrical work in outdoor environments. The AWK-1200 has a detachable antenna design to extend any special-purpose signal coverage for outdoor applications. In addition, the reliable extended temperature operation from –20 to 700C makes the AWK-1200 a natural choice to fit into the challenging outdoor environment. Wireless security is enhanced using WEP, WPA/WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and IEEE802.1X authentication to guarantee a safe wireless networked environment.

Point-to-point and Point-to-Multipoint Wireless Connection
The AWK-1200 can perform the Point-to-Point (PTP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) wireless communication that allows multiple locations to share a single Internet connection. Outdoor wireless networks that use AWK-1200 extend connectivity beyond the building walls and wired backbones to deliver more cost-effective service, and expand information access to outdoors.

Extend Signal Coverage with the Right Antenna
The AWK-1200 has a detachable antenna design, which gives you the flexibility of choosing your own special-purpose antenna to reach the longest distance possible, instead of being limited to the standard models. Moxa offers to kinds of antenna. The AN+T-1-D-12 is a directional antenna type with 12 dBi gain, and the ANT-1-O-09 is an omni-directional antenna type with 9 dBi gain.

AWK-1200 Features
  • IP68 rated Wireless Access Point/Bridge or IP67 rated Wireless AP Client
  • Point-to-point, point-to-multipoint wireless connectivity
  • Flexible Deployment with PoE and detachable antenna design
  • WEP/WPA/WPA2/IEEE802.1X authentication
  • -20 to 70°C operating for temperature-uncontrolled areas
