July 24, 2007 - The Remstar Shuttle® Vertical Lift Module (VLM) controlled access feature provides managers in warehouse organizations additional control and accountability over stored items while saving up to 85% of their floor space.
By using this feature, managers can control access to inventory on specific storage trays within the Shuttle VLM. Controlled access improves the security of the Shuttle VLM by locking out non-authorized personnel via logon identification. It is particularly useful in applications where inventory such as high value items, product, tooling, and consumable items are stored. This feature also increases accountability by allowing managers to know who accessed inventory and at what time. The modular design of the Shuttle VLM permits warehouse organizations to use this system in either point-of-use or central storage locations.
The Shuttle VLMs access control feature works in conjunction with FastPic Systems FastPic IC inventory control software. The supervisor simply selects the storage device and the tray where restricted access applies, and loads a user list using the software. The software allows full customization of accessibility to the Shuttle VLM. It can be programmed to limit access by individual employee or department, and can be re-programmed quickly to meet changing security and inventory needs.
Remstars Shuttle VLM is an enclosed system of vertically arranged trays, an extraction platform and a series of computerized controls that allow operators to stay in one place as the Shuttle VLM delivers items to an ergonomically positioned workstation. The Shuttle VLM provides optimum storage efficiency by taking advantage of unused overhead space, recovering up to 85 percent of available floor space.
