Quantum3D names Ray Niacaris director of software sales
WASHINGTON, DC, AUVSI – August 6, 2007 – Quantum3D announced that embedded-industry veteran Ray Niacaris has joined Quantum3D as Director of North American Embedded Visual-Computing (EVC) Software Sales. Mr. Niacaris will be responsible for the sales of EVC software, including IData and FidelityVCF, and coordinating major accounts and channels such as OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), VARs (value added resellers) and LSIs (lead system integrators). Mr. Niacaris will also support Quantum3D’s existing sales representatives in their efforts.

“IData and FidelityVCF are gaining significant momentum in the aerospace market—especially in DO-178B certified military and civilian avionics and weapon system applications,” said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D Co-founder and President. “Ray’s experience in DO-178B embedded applications and tools, combined with his credibility with the U.S. and Canadian aerospace customer base and his background in sales management, will be instrumental in helping Quantum3D to capitalize on this momentum.”

“Quantum3D has proven expertise and outstanding tools for DO-178B certified avionics, C4ISR and unmanned-vehicle control applications,” said Mr. Niacaris. “The IData team has direct avionics and DO-178B certification experience, which gives a shared perspective and unique support capabilities for our aerospace customers. With our increased focus on our embedded software tools customers, Quantum3D is well poised for rapid growth in this mission-critical market.”

Mr. Niacaris has a 30-plus-year track record in DO-178B certified HMI (human machine interface), RTOS (realtime operating systems), avionics, vetronics and weapon-system software applications and sales management. Most recently Mr. Niacaris was employed by Engenuity, Inc., leading provider of HMI and related software tools, where he was responsible for major accounts including Boeing and others. Prior to his employment at Engenuity, Mr. Niacaris held the position of regional sales manager at Green Hills Software, a leading provider of RTOS products and development tools. Previously, Mr. Niacaris also held engineering and sales management positions at Hewlett Packard, Integrated Chipware, Ascent Logic, RJS and Nuvatec. Mr. Niacaris holds a BS EECS from Illinois Institute of Technology where he also served as adjunct professor of design.
