Minneapolis, MN - August 14, 2007 - Banner Engineering released analog Thermocouple and RTD Instrumentation Nodes for the SureCross Wireless Network. The nodes are available in versions to support thermocouple/thermistor inputs and 2-, 3- and 4-wire RTDs. They facilitate easy, rugged wireless temperature sensing for high repeatability and fast response time, requiring no calibration by the user. List price for a Gateway and Instrumentation Node pair is $1438.
The SureCross Thermocouple Node supports up to three thermocouple inputs, one thermistor input and two discrete (sinking) inputs, and has two discrete (NMOS sinking) outputs. Users can choose from 11 configurable thermocouple options, demonstrating an extensive temperature sensing range from -200 to +2,320° C, depending on configuration. The Node defaults to the J-type thermocouple, which senses temperatures ranging from -180 to +750° C and offers a plug-and-play solution ideal for remote or difficult to access locations. In addition, the Thermocouple Node uses integrated cold junction compensation to provide reliable temperature sensing suitable for a wide variety of applications.
The RTD Node supports up to four 3-wire Pt100 (DIN .00385) RTDs and offers a temperature sensing range of -200 to 482° C. Additional temperature sensing types are available. This technology demonstrates high-performance temperature sensing with exceptional accuracy.
Nodes work in conjunction with a Gateway on the SureCross Wireless Network and are housed in a rugged IP67 housing. Both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz frequency communication models are available, providing advanced wireless temperature sensing capabilities from practically anywhere. In addition, with Banners innovative FlexPower capability, the Nodes can be powered by 10-30V or energy-saving 3.6-5.5V dc power, solar power, or Banners exclusive 3.6V FlexPower battery module. This unique battery module can provide power to the Node and temperature sensing device for years of continuous operation.
The SureCross Wireless Network was designed for industry to provide an integrated wireless solution with advanced monitoring and actuating capabilities, said Chris Dales, Senior Application Engineer, Banner Wireless Division. With the new SureCross Thermocouple and RTD Nodes, robust, reliable temperature sensing is made simple. The Nodes are available in several configurations to deliver application-specific results without requiring custom calibration, and both models support global communication standards. Dales adds, For tank farms, industrial plant operations and many more applications where success is dependent upon accurate temperature monitoring, SureCross Instrumentation Nodes provide a rugged, easy-to-apply solution.
Applications. The SureCross Wireless Network uses a centralized Gateway system controller to monitor and/or control I/O in up to 15 Nodes, delivering superior sensing with high operational reliability and optimum security. Thermocouple and RTD Nodes facilitate quick, accurate temperature sensing for a variety of challenging industrial applications, including the following:
Motor temperature analysis for preventative maintenance operations
