August 16, 2007 - LONMARK International announces the opening of its fifth authorized testing centre in Europe, located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

The centre will offer the LONMARK Certified Professional Test, the first of three planned certifications. The exam is recommended for any specialist engaging in the design, specification, integration, or installation of LON control networks. The certification will cover:

  • LonWorks history and basic terminology,
  • Transport media,
  • Nodes,
  • Communication,
  • Physical network structuring,
  • Logical network structuring,
  • Installation,
  • Network configuration,
  • Tools for network management,
  • LonWorks and IP,
  • Troubleshooting, and
  • User interfaces.

Test applicants can chose from a number of available exam preparation methods including studying from the official LONWORKS Installation Handbook (ISBN 978-3-8007-2906-7) which is printed in both English and German. Training courses and seminars are also offered worldwide through local LONMARK Affiliates and through LMI Members to help test takers prepare for the examination.

The test provides a means of establishing valid credentials and a reliable competency standard for industry specialists. Becoming LONMARK certified will guarantee one can offer customers the best possible LON solution and the most highly qualified people working on the project. Certification also ensures professionals are up to date on the latest “best practices” available.

The new testing centre will offer its first test on 24 August 2007 with an additional test date set for 23 November 2007. Other authorized European testing centres are located in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, in addition to temporary examination centres being set up around the globe in conjunction with the LonMark Sessions 2007 Seminar Tour.
