SEVCON introduces Integrated Motor Control to replace hydraulics
September 12, 2007 - A compact, fully integrated fly-by-wire electronic controller, motor, and gearbox that can open and close hoppers, valves, and other equipment, steer AGVs, fork trucks, and powerboats, and raise and lower antennas or other devices is being introduced by SEVCON, Inc. of Southborough, Massachusetts.

The Sevcon Integrated Motor Control is a fly-by-wire electronic system for battery-powered equipment that features a controller, high efficiency brushless DC motor, and a two-stage planetary gearbox. Capable of being mounted in any orientation, this fully integrated brushless servo system covers operating voltages from 24 to 48 VDC, provides 35 to 235 Nm peak torque, depending upon model, and uses CANopen communications protocol.

Measuring 7.3” L x 3.2” W x 5.4” H, typically, the Sevcon Integrated Motor Control complies with worldwide electric vehicle standards for use as a power steering system. The gear ratio, coupling, and mounting designs can be customer specified and the gearbox uses straight and helical gears and is fully greased for quiet operation.

The Sevcon Integrated Motor Control is priced from $300.00 (list) each, depending upon quantity. Price quotations are provided upon request.
