Aarhus/Staffanstorp/Swindon, September 25, 2007 - Baumer offers a new Level Switch for level detection and dry run protection. The three models available (LSM 020, LSM 025, LSM 030) are ideal for CIP and SIP measurements due to their wetted parts in acid-proof stainless steel or PEEK thermoplastic respectively.
The LSM measures alternating media such as liquids (e.g., water or beer), viscous fluids (e.g., honey or toothpaste) and even some dry media regardless of its mounting position and without being influenced by foam, bubbles, lumps or vibrations. The food-compatible, compact construction in hygienic design is 3A approved; sanitary connections are available.
Thanks to integrated electronics and no moving parts, the LSM is maintenance-free. A LED level monitor indicates all data and allows precise measuring. The precise switching point is reached without calibration. The LSMs process temperature ranges from -20 to 85°C.
Inserted into a metal tank, the LSM sends out an electro-magnetic wave. Its reflection is measured through the tank wall by Baumers instrument. When the media reaches the sensor tip, the reflection of the electromagnetic field changes depending on the dielectric value of the media. Again, the LSM switch measures this change through the tank wall and opens or closes respectively. The switch can be electrically installed as normally opened or normally closed; a jumper on the electronics enables the setting of the sensitivity and response time.
