RUGGEDCOM INC., Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada, October 24, 2007 – RuggedCom introduced the compact ruggedswitch RS940G 8-port gigabit Ethernet switch to address the needs for high bandwidth applications found in substation automation for electric utilities and advanced control and automation for industrial processes.

As with all RuggedCom products, the RuggedSwitch RS940G is RuggedRated for harsh environments. RuggedRated products meet or exceed a wide range of industry standards; provide a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and heavy electrical surges; feature a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (no fans); can be powered from a variety of sources (12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC, 88-300VDC/35-264VAC); and have high MTBFs and reliability characteristics. In addition, all RuggedSwitch RS900 family of products are Class 1 Div 2 certified for hazardous locations. All of these features allow the RuggedSwitch products to be placed in almost any location for great installation flexibility.
