Taipei, Taiwan, 26 October, 2007 – Ethernet Direct released CUE-411 and CUE-413 Industrial PoE switches that comply with the IEEE 802.3af standard. These hardened switches with 4 10/100TX plus 1-port 100FX product are designed for mission critical PoE applications.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) has been standardized with IEEE standard 802.3af describing Ethernet power-sourcing equipment and powered terminals. This specification describes delivering 48 volts of DC power over unshielded twisted-pair wiring. Nowadays, more and more Industrial applications are starting to benefit from electrical power sent over Ethernet cables. This avoids a separate power cord for things like internet phones and wireless access points. The so-called PoE injects power into an Ethernet cable at the source and receives that power at the destination. Both the injector and receiver are embedded into the device.

CUE-411 and CUE-413 Industrial PoE Switches bloth have a 4-Port 10/100 TX with built in PoE injectors and one port 100FX uplink port delivering 15.4W power per port. As such, CUE-411 and CUE-413 combines signal and power in one Ethernet cable connection to accommodate Ethernet based control systems. Powering devices such as IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, Network cameras, Ethernet hubs, embedded computers, sensors, card readers as well as transferring data at the remote edges is now made easy by installing a truly industrial standard PoE switch from Ethernet Direct.

CUE-411 and CUE-413 pose a cost effective and efficient solution for current industrial networks since a growing number of Industrial applications require Industrial PoE switches. An example would be connecting a V0IP phone, a PoE powered digital clock and an IP badge reader in an outdoor environment to an indoor LAN using standard Ethernet twisted-pair copper cable. Another application would be connecting IP wireless access points in a production facility or warehouse into the factory LAN network. In remote application, the need for surveillance system to connect video cameras located outdoors to a LAN network is also typical.

CUE-411 & CUE-413 have redundant power input to back up DC power source in case one of the power inputs fails. Ethernet Direct PoE switches are highly recommended for applications in surveillance/security, transportation systems, utility substations, mines/quarries, industrial factories, warehouses/logistic facilities and others where placement of a powered device is advantageous and could post savings compared to deploying power wiring infrastructure.

Ethernet Direct Industrial PoE switch series all support various power protection like PoE overload current protection, port to port isolation, PoE over voltage and under-voltage protection, 4000 VDC Ethernet ESD protection and PoE short circuit protection.
