Research Triangle Park, NC – October 30, 2007 - WBF has issued its call for award nominations for two awards that could be given in 2008. The deadline for nominations for both awards is 17 December 2007.

The Dr. Guido Carlo-Stella Award is given to individuals displaying technical excellence or a dedication to mentoring and inspiring others in the fields of automation and information integration in the manufacturing industries. Established in 1999 in honor of Dr. Guido Carlo-Stella, an outstanding professional in the field of process automation and an early participant in the ISA88 standards committee, a recipient can be selected by an awards committee and approved by the WBF board of directors.

The Thomas G. Fisher Award recognizes outstanding leadership in the field of operation and control of manufacturing processes. The award was established to honor Tom Fisher, a former WBF chairman and a tireless contributor to efforts to improve batch manufacturing standards and methods. Recipients must demonstrate notable leadership in the development, teaching, and popularization of technologies, services and techniques in the field of process manufacturing. Past recipients have worked to create and promote programs to raise the general awareness of existing technologies, techniques and standards, and to create new technologies and standards.

Both awards are only given on those occasions when it is appropriate to recognize truly outstanding leadership of an individual in the field. Recipients of the Thomas G. Fisher Award are enrolled as life members of WBF, entitling them to individual memberships, automatically renewed at no charge.
