ACS announces SPiiPlus SA Series Motion Controller
PLYMOUTH, MN (October 30, 2007) — ACS Motion Control developed an advanced, stand alone multi-axis motion controller that provides high resolution and high-speed motion without compromising accuracy and throughput. Designated the SPiiPlus SA Series, the stand alone motion controller supports a wide range of motion modes, including point-to-point, jog, segmented motion, master-slave and arbitrary path with PVT cubic interpolation, on 2, 4, 6, or 8 axes of motion.

Ideal for OEM machinery that requires multi-axis synchronization, such as semiconductor manufacturing, wafer inspection, and flat panel display assembly and testing, the SPiiPlus SA Series can control systems with both servo and step motors.

The SPiiPlus SA Series is furnished with a simple and convenient D-Type connectivity for interfacing with the servo amplifiers, analog & incremental encoders, digital and analog I/O. Featuring powerful I/O handling with advanced logic capabilities, the SpiiPlus SA can simultaneously host communication through multiple channels, 10/100baseT Ethernet, Ethernet/ModBus and RS-232/RS-422.

The SPiiPlus SA can support AC Servos/DC brushless, DC brush, P/D Stepper and nanomotion piezo-ceramic motors. The SPiiPlus SA’s accurate motion control is obtained with 20 kHz servo sampling rate. The 50 micro second servo update is the same whether controlling 1 or 8 axes.

ACS provides powerful set up, configuration and simulation software free with each SPiiPlus SA controller. Optimized for motion control applications, the software suite provides easy setup, tuning and programming and application simulation. The software also enables the implementation of highly complex motion-time-event sequences with accurate positioning and timing.

The SPiiPlus SA is manufactured under ISO 9001:2000 certified quality management system, meeting stringent safety and EMC standards and is CE and CSA marked.

“We give our customers a competitive advantage with the SPiiPlus SA Series advanced control capability, among the many features we offer is our proprietary disturbance rejection algorithm that improves the settling time of any axis. The algorithm permits very rapid profiles, while keeping the position window to 1 nm with settling time of only few milliseconds, and achieving ± 1 encoder count of standstill jitter.” said Neal Kearney, ACS VP of Sales and Marketing.
