Memphis, Tenn. (November 18, 2007) – Thomas & Betts offers Ocal Blue PVC coated conduit and fittings, the complete corrosion protection package for electrical conduit systems. Ocal’s corrosion protection will extend the life of electrical raceway systems for years to come.

Ocal is the only PVC coated conduit system in the industry to fully comply with all standards for proper use and protection in corrosive environments mandated by UL6, NEMA RN-1 and ANSI C80.1. Only Ocal Blue PVC Coated Conduit has a fully undisturbed zinc protection under the PVC coating; meeting the requirement of NEMA RN-1.

Thomas & Betts is the only supplier of PVC coated conduit with hot dipped galvanized threads. Hot dip galvanizing is the process where the steel shell is dipped in molten zinc, causing the zinc to penetrate the steel, providing superior corrosion protection to the threads.

Ocal further enhances corrosion protection by applying urethane to the interior and exterior of the fittings before PVC coating, thus providing a “Double-Coat” coated fitting. The fitting covers are coated with a molded flange and conduit bodies are molded with a flat surface to ensure a superior seal.

Only Thomas & Betts offers local “hands-on” installation training and certification at no additional cost. Thomas & Betts also offers the broadest selection of installation tools as well as custom colors of Ocal PVC coated conduit and fittings.

“Corrosive elements cause millions of dollars in damage through lost time, materials and labor,” said Pete Landsgaard, product manager for Thomas & Betts. “With Ocal, we’re providing lasting protection of conduit systems in the harshest of environments.”
