Ottawa, Ontario, November 28, 2007 - Control Microsystems released 5913 and 5914 Bluetooth Interface products. This wireless connection option replaces direct serial connections, which are difficult to create in many field installations. Bluetooth is a global standard communications method that enables data to be exchanged wirelessly between electronic devices.

The 5913 Serial to Bluetooth Adapter connects directly to a SCADAPack controller’s RJ45 serial port using an included 24” cable and is powered through this cable link by the SCADAPack. The 5913 is shipped from the factory as a ‘discoverable’ Bluetooth slave device and may be used with any compatible Bluetooth device, such as an internal Bluetooth transceiver on a PC or laptop computer.

The 5914 USB to Bluetooth Transceiver is a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Bluetooth transceiver that adds master Bluetooth connectivity to devices such as desktop personal computers and more commonly, laptop computers, operating as a Bluetooth master when communicating with a 5913. The product is shipped with a configuration software CD.

These products are rated for use in Electrical Equipment for Use in Class I, Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D Hazardous Locations and are CCSAUS approved.

“We are very pleased with the addition of Bluetooth technology to our communication product line,” stated Dale Symington, Vice President Product Strategy, Control Microsystems. “Now the retrieval of accurate and secure measurement data from remote installations, often in harsh or inaccessible locations, will be quicker, easier and much more practical for field personnel.”

Pricing
The 5913 Serial to Bluetooth Adapter starts at $360.00 US
The 5914 USB to Bluetooth Transceiver starts at $140.00 US
