November 29, 2007 - Industrial Control Repair opened its Learning Institute for students looking to start a career in robotics.
ICRs Learning Institute offers an accelerated robotics training program where students get the opportunity to work hands-on in a real world environment performing tasks associated with actual work scenarios. Students are given case studies to perform specific tasks to train for a career as an automation controls or robotics service technician.
This course work will prepare students to enter the field of robotics which is growing not only in the automotive industry, but also in the fields of medicine, packaging, plastics, hazardous waste removal and food processing,
Todays economy has forced employers to make changes not only in they way they produce various products but also in the skill sets they require of their workforce. Employees need to recognize these changes and prepare themselves for these new challenges. We believe in helping people gain the skills necessary to be successful in their career and prepare for future demands on the workforce, said Cindy Lang Director of ICRs Learning Institute.
ICRs Learning Institute offers an Automation Service Technician training program which consists of 320 course contact hours. This training program is broken down into many segments consisting of intense training on the actual equipment the student will find in the workplace. The Robotic segments provide students with programming and troubleshooting skills on robots such as Fanuc, ABB and Motoman. The Automation Controls segments provide students with programming and troubleshooting skills on various controls system such as Allen-Bradley PLC-5, SLC-500 and PanelViews. The final week of the program ties it all together by providing the students with the skills necessary to program and troubleshoot different types of communication with various robots, controls systems and peripheral devices.
All ICR Learning Institute courses are taught by instructors who are certified and have had 12+ years experience working in the field programming and troubleshooting various types of equipment and processes.
The Automation Controls and Robotics field requires logical thinking and a basic understanding of electricity. Our ideal student would have an electrical background with math and computer skills. We have however had highly motivated students, with no experience or background, enroll in the Automation Service Technician program and obtain jobs in the field with great advancement opportunities. The key to a successful student is their motivation, commitment and desire to learn, said Lang.
ICRs Learning Institute provides training to students who meet the eligibility requirements for the states No Worker Left Behind Program.
ICRs Learning Institute can also customize training programs for corporate clients with new automation cells, new devices or processes at their facilities.
