PHOENIX, Jan. 15, 2007 Honeywell introduced the MXProLine Wire Calender Quality Control System (QCS), a next-generation system that enhances visibility and automation of quality parameters for the wire calendering process. The measurement speed, accuracy and profile modeling capabilities of MXProLine help plants achieve greater operational efficiency, enhanced productivity and improved quality control.
The MXProLine Wire Calender system includes advanced signal processing, precise streak detection algorithms and intuitive operator screens for visibility into wire cord faults or other quality defects. High-performance sensors provide independent measurements of total weight, top and bottom gum weight, wire weight, wire cord count, wire spacing and the gum-edge-to-first-cord measurement.
The system also measures the true coating on the top and bottom of the wire. The MXProLine wire sensor package detects wire faults in the calendering process without having to wait for defects to be identified in the final inspection stage. For combination wire and textile calenders, MXProLine can switch modes at the touch of a button.
Better visibility into the wire calendering process helps detect and correct defects early in the process for more effective and economical quality control. Fast, accurate measurements and advanced signal processing allow operators to make quick decisions to process control parameters, which increases productivity and reduces waste.
MXProLine has set the standard for measurement and control systems in numerous applications in rubber, plastics, nonwovens and aluminum sheet processes, said Jim Molnar, director of Honeywells Continuous Web Solutions business. The MXProLine technology includes unique measurement capabilities and improves the information flow to plant operators, thereby increasing plant efficiency.
