(Cincinnati, Ohio 01/17/2008) - Advantech introduced the EKI-7626C 16+2 gigabit combo unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch. With the growth of Ethernet in industrial applications, gigabit ports provide the capacity needed for increased network traffic.
The EKI-7626C is equipped with 16 10/100Base-TX fast Ethernet ports and two 10/100/1000 Mbps gigabit Ethernet ports. The gigabit combo ports support both copper (RJ45) connections as well as optional Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules for fiber optic connections. About the size of an AA battery, SFP modules are available in single-mode and multi-mode fiber models for distances ranging from 1,800 feet (550m) to nearly 70 miles (100km).
Designed for the harsh environment of industrial applications, the EKI-7626C is packed in a rugged metal DIN-rail mount chassis built to withstand shock and vibration. The EKI-7626C features 4,000 Vdc Ethernet ESD protection, power line surge (EFT) protection of 3,000 Vdc, and an operating temperature of -10 to 60° C.
The EKI-7626C includes dual 12 to 48 Vdc power inputs for redundant power configurations to ensure system uptime. In the event of a problem with external power, a built-in fault relay is available to signal an external programmable logic controller (PLC) or controller.
For ease of setup and maintenance, each Ethernet port is equipped with front-facing LED indicators that provide transmission speed, link, and activity status to aid in diagnosing issues with cables and attached devices. Also, with auto-MDI/MDI-X, there is no need to use crossover cables, and auto-negotiation provides optimum Ethernet link configurations.
With dual gigabit Ethernet ports, the EKI-7626C is ideal for bandwidth for intensive applications and those requiring the flexibility to accommodate long-distance and noise-immune fiber optic connections. The EKI-7626C is available for purchase directly from Advantech or from an Advantech authorized dealer.
Harry Forbes, ARC Senior Analyst says This new product is part of the growing number of Advantech products for industrial Ethernet infrastructure. Advantech is initially focused on high performance but lower cost unmanaged switches. With 18 Ethernet ports, this new switch can serve larger applications than earlier Advantech products.
