DistribuTECH, Tampa, FL, USA – 22 January 2008 – Barco launched control room management software and a 3D workstation for multi-channel desktops and small to medium-sized video walls. With these two interoperable visualization solutions, Barco is enhancing collaboration and information sharing between operators in small to medium-sized control rooms.

“Today’s control rooms are complex networked environments handling an ever increasing number of video and data sources,” says Karel Buijsse, product manager Application Software at Barco. “Efficient collaboration and decision-making is only possible if operators and decision-makers have easy and timely access to this information. With the launch of these two new network-centric visualization solutions, Barco allows control room operators to easily work with large amounts of data and to collaborate more efficiently.”

Barco's CMS-100 control room management suite
Barco's CMS-100 software is an advanced control room management suite which facilitates decision-making and allows more efficient collaboration in small to medium-sized control rooms. CMS-100 provides operators and decision-makers with easy access to information and allows them to connect to multiple sources, to configure how they are displayed, and to collaborate in the most efficient way.

Thanks to its networked concept, the CMS-100 software enables users to easily visualize sources in full quality, regardless of where the information has to be presented – on small LCD displays, video walls or operator workstations. Since all sources are available over the network, no dedicated hardware is necessary to visualize the information. CMS-100 offers nearly unlimited possibilities to control and manage displays and sources via an intuitive drag and drop interface. Through the unique concept of Perspectives, CMS-100 allows operators to make more efficient use of the control room display space, and to share user-defined information views with colleagues more efficiently.

Barco's PWS-101 3D workstation for multi-display setups
In order to meet the ever increasing performance demands for high-quality processing of multiple encoded media streams, Barco also offers dedicated hardware accelerator cards, which significantly extend PC capabilities. The CMS-100 software is therefore fully compatible with Barco's new PWS-101 controller, which has been designed to drive multi-monitor personal desktops, personal display walls and small to medium-sized video walls. The powerful 3D workstation PWS-101 makes use of the extreme power of up to two Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® CPUs, high-end 3D graphics acceleration and best-in-class media integration capabilities.

Barco's CMS-100 and PWS-101 solutions will be available for sales from March 2008 onwards.
