Softing introduces BC-200-CAN CAN-bus tester
March 17, 2008, Newburyport, MA, USA - Softing announced the BC-200-CAN CAN-bus Electrical Tester. This unique analyzer is an indispensable tool that automatically analyzes the physical layer of a CAN-bus network and visually displays the signal quality for each connected CAN-bus device separately. The graphical representation of the signal quality enables the maintenance engineer to quickly pin-point trouble-spots within a network.

The CAN-bus tester is ideally suited to continuously monitor a CAN-bus network and to perform comparative measurements that allow the detection of signal deviations at an early stage and thus prevent downtime.

The user-friendly software package connects to the CAN-bus electrical tester via an USB cable. The software visualizes the diagnostic information and automatically generates comprehensive test protocols. These test protocols can be exported as a set of CSV and graphic files to allow further processing with, for example, MS Office products.

The following list summarizes the functionality of the CAN-bus Electrical Tester:
  • Tester for the electrical signal quality of CAN-bus devices and networks
  • Works with all CAN-bus based communication technologies (e.g. CANopen, DeviceNet, J1939, SDS, etc.)
  • Ideal tool for installation, commissioning and maintenance
  • Localizes errors in CAN-bus cabling as well as defective signal-drivers and other electrical errors
  • Non-Intrusive signal testing on running network
  • Integrated data simulator to actively send user-configurable test messages
  • Station-specific measurement with built-in oscilloscope with trigger and zoom
  • Integrated oscilloscope trigger

    System Requirements:
  • Desktop/notebook with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, and Windows Server 2003
  • CPU at least 1 GHz
  • USB interface

    Order Numbers:
  • BC-200-CAN
