Honeywell introduces HG1171 Inertial Measurement Sensor
MINNEAPOLIS, April 14, 2008 – Honeywell introduced its HG1171 Series 6DF IMU sensors which are designed to provide key data for automated steering, stability and vehicle controls in material handling equipment applications.

The HG1171 Series uses MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Machined Sensors) technology already widely used in aerospace applications for navigation and control, where our customer needs to have enhanced performance in sensing rotation rate and acceleration. The HG1171 Series features enhanced fault monitoring and reporting to verify correct operation, a capability available on Honeywell products.

Integration of the microcontroller, sensors and communication interfaces on the HG1171 Series allows for software customization, which can save development time and money. The HG1171 Series sensors feature a high-speed CAN bus, enhanced temperature performance, low noise and high resolution, packaged in a tough metal housing designed for most harsh environments.

Honeywell International is a $36 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell's shares are traded on the New York, London and Chicago Stock Exchanges.
