April 18, 2008 - SIXNET announces the newest addition to the Slim Line series of industrial Ethernet switches; the "All-Gigabit" SL-8MG, with 8 ultra-fast Gigabit ports for auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet links. This switch features four flexible combination ports that each offers the convenience of both a copper RJ45 and pluggable fiber optic connector. This allows you to start with a RJ45 connection and easily upgrade to a noise immune fiber optic link by just plugging in a fiber transceiver. Multimode, singlemode, long haul up to 80+ km and special application transceivers are available to meet just about any requirement.
The 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports on the SL-8MG are "auto-everything" (-sensing,-mdi/mdix-crossover and -polarity) ensuring a proper connection regardless of your cable wiring. This fully managed switch supports all standard IEEE 802.3 protocols and offers real-time secure performance through RSTP for fast redundancy, SNMP for network management, VLAN for network segregation, IGMP for multicast filtering and much more. Secure access through authentication and encryption is guaranteed with HTTPS (SSL and TLS), SSH, SNMPv3 and others. Plus this advanced switch offers the latest in store-and-forward wire-speed non-blocking switching technology, supports 8192 MAC addresses and provides an incredible 32 Gbps back-plane. This allows all ports to communicate at full-duplex speed at the same time, eliminating collisions and ensuring no undesirable delays.
The SL-8MG has rugged hardware features for ease of use and long term operation. Offering a SIXNET-exclusive 3-way flexible mounting design, this switch can be mounted on DIN rail for installation in a snap, or it can be mounted directly to a panel in either a vertical or horizontal position for optimal vibration resistance.
