CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, APRIL 22, 2008 GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced Version 4.4 of Proficy Plant Applications. Version 4.4’s powerful new features decrease a user’s time-to-value, making it easier for manufacturers to reach production, quality and cost objectives.

The release supports VMware virtualization, Citrix remote desktop architectures and Microsoft Server Clustering for improved reliability and system dependability.

Plant Applications v4.4 was designed to get companies up and running faster and solving problems sooner. The new Model Configuration tools extend the power of the software’s event detection and modeling sub-system. Those capabilities, coupled with improved deployment tools, make configuration of production systems faster and more repeatable. Likewise, the improved runtime displays and enhanced reporting capabilities improve the software’s ability to get the right information to the right people – on the plant floor and in operations, quality, process and management offices.

Plant Applications v4.4 also continues to provide the foundation for extending the value of production systems beyond a unit, line or area of the plant to the enterprise applications of the business. By connecting Proficy Enterprise Connector, or the newly announced Proficy Maintenance Gateway products into the events and information within Plant Applications, users can make both plant and enterprise systems stronger together than either could be working on its own.

“Plant Applications v4.4 has new features, but it still delivers all the powerful reporting and analytical capabilities companies have relied on for years to track product and process genealogies and quality, order and performance metrics on the line or across the plant,” said Barry Lynch, Global Manager, Maintenance & Plant Applications, GE Fanuc Production Management Software.

“Closing the loop between enterprise and plant systems is an essential requirement in today's competitive environment,” said Erik Udstuen, GE Fanuc General Manager Software and Services. “Our newest version of Plant Applications allows companies to leverage our experience of connecting

Proficy to the enterprise while creating an environment to improve plant operations on a real-time basis. This is what enables true plant to enterprise transformation.”

The advanced architecture of Plant Applications 4.4 is non-intrusive to plant floor controls and operations and supports the broad range of production environments present in typical global companies. Its modular and scalable applications stand alone or work together to support installations of varying scope and size. Version 4.4 is available for order immediately.
