Company and Product Announcements
Shortly after graduating from Georgia Tech, Matt Crandell founded an integration company called Advanced Systems Integration. This company was very successful, with multiple locations and a staff of almost 40 people. Late in the 1990's Mr. Crandell, always interested in the latest technology, discovered the work that was being done with Microsoft's operating systems to allow multiple users to run application on a single Server. He recognized the tremendous benefit to industrial users if they could move away from a distributed computing model, with PCs scattered all around a factory, to a centralized model which would allow for the deployment of Windows terminals with application software and data protected on a few secure servers.
In 1998 ASI started doing business as Automation Control Products (ACP) and began work on a specialized version of Thin Client management software. This software, which became known as ThinManager, enhanced the standard Terminal Server operating systems from Microsoft, allowing ThinManager Ready Thin Clients to provide features not found on other Thin Clients. Starting with server failover and redundancy and continuing through features such as automatic login and multiple monitor Thin Clients, ACP ThinManager provides users with Thin Clients uniquely suited to the manufacturing environment.
ACP showed the first version of its ThinManager product at the National Manufacturing Show in Chicago in March of 1999, with its first installation of product in August of that same year. At the end of 1999 Plant Engineering chose ACP's ThinManager as one of their Products of the Year.
In the years since, ACP has continued to promote Thin Client technology in the industrial market, and ACP's ThinManager has become the standard for thousands of companies in over 30 countries around the world. We are proud claim among our largest customers companies such as 3M, Abbott Laboratories, Alcan, AmerenUE, Armstrong, Avery Dennison, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Campbell Soup, Cardinal Health, Chevron, Coca-Cola, General Electric, General Mills, General Motors, Georgia Pacific, John Deere, Kellog, M&M Mars, Merck, Nestle Purina, Occidental Chemical, Pepperidge Farm, PepsiCo, Phillip Morris, Procter & Gamble, Publix, Quaker Oats, Schering-Plough, Trus Joist, UPS, USS and Weyerhaeuser.
