Bedrock announces free online training for Integrated Development Environment (IDE)

August 21, 2017 – Bedrock Automation is offering extensive online programming tutorials. Initially developed to train Bedrock end users and partners in programming applications to the IEC 61131-3 standard, the software and the IDE can be used to build PLC, DCS, and SCADA RTU applications that are cryptographically authenticated to the Bedrock platform.
Created in partnership with 3S Smart Software Solutions GmbH, maker of Codesys automation software, the Bedrock IDE gives developers the flexibility to use the languages and methods that are most appropriate for their designs. The IDE software comes with a fully-featured PLC simulator that runs on a laptop, from which fieldbus devices can also be controlled. The IDE enables users to test applications before deploying them in the plant and even includes an OPC-UA server.
The online courses cover many topics in programming and the Bedrock open IDE, including installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting tasks. Topics covered in the video modules include creating a new project, adding a device, simulation, library management, OPC UA management, using the built-in storage oscilloscope, and object-oriented programming using methods and inheritance.
