Emerson starts nuclear valve business unit

September 10, 2008 - Emerson Process Management announces formation of a new business unit that will focus on meeting the control valve needs of next generation nuclear facilities, along with the existing fleet.

Based in Marshalltown, Iowa, the nuclear group is directed by Bill Fitzgerald, who brings decades of experience in applying Emerson’s Fisher valves and instruments within nuclear plants to his position of business unit director. Commenting on the new business unit, Fitzgerald stated, “The nuclear market is truly changing to one that will feature new capacity based upon the next generation plant designs. At Emerson, we have established a core group of valve design and manufacturing experts who collectively offer significant experience in meeting the control valve requirements of both Balance of Plant (BOP) and nuclear island systems.”

“Our team members offer unmatched capabilities in identifying valve and instrument requirements, creating valve designs that answer specific operational needs, and then manufacturing final control elements to the highest of standards, Fitzgerald continued. “We intend to serve the nuclear industry worldwide, regardless of plant location and are closely aligned with our other world area organizations to make sure that happens.”
