HART Exhibits at Hannover Fair

March 20, 2013 - The HART Communication Foundation will display a unique trade show exhibit at Hannover Messe 2013 (8-12 April, Hannover, Germany) that gives users the opportunity to “see and hear” HART Communication at work with actual sight and sound. The demonstration is part of two displays—Get Connected and WirelessHART—within the Foundation’s large multi-vendor HART exhibit located in the Field Communications Lounge (Hall 9, Stand D76).
“HART Communication has two simultaneous communication channels – 4-20mA and HART digital. The HART digital channel communicates using frequencies compatible with telephone systems and consequently is audible to the human ear,” says Wally Pratt, Foundation Chief Engineer. “We created an isolating audio amplifier and a circuit board with a light so people will hear HART messages being sent and see them via a flashing light.”

“Because HART Communication has its own distinct sound, listening to the communication can be used to troubleshoot a HART network using the highly defined ability of the human ear to distinguish individual sounds,” Pratt adds. “It is easy to hear the difference between HART communication and noise or interference.”

The Get Connected display shows how easy it is to configure a device and both a temporary and full-time connection to intelligent device information for device diagnostics and troubleshooting. The WirelessHART display demonstrates how the set-up of a WirelessHART device is basically identical to that of a wired HART device and includes the many types of WirelessHART adapters and the WirelessHART gateways.

Renowned corporate magician Paul Gertner, who pioneered the concept of trade show magic more than 30 years ago and is recognized by magicians worldwide for his innovative magic-based sales presentations, will present daily in the booth with a new show every 30 minutes and a free magic trick for all attendees at all shows.

In addition, the HART exhibit includes wired and wireless HART products and solutions from leading suppliers including AwiaTech, Badger Meter, Beamex, Endress+Hauser, Fieldbus International, Fluke, Honeywell, ifak system,  MACTek, Moore Industries, R. Stahl, Siemens, and Yokogawa.

The HART Communication Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit membership organization that provides global support for the application of HART technology. The Foundation is the technology owner, standards setting body and central authority on the HART Communication Protocol, establishing and controlling new technology developments and enhancements that support the needs of the process automation industry. Founded in 1993, Foundation membership includes more than 280 companies worldwide. The HART Protocol is the leading communication technology for smart process instruments with more than 35 million devices installed worldwide.
