Course Description:
This course will provide employees with pertinent information regarding Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and guidelines applicable to the general and construction industry activities and operations. The goal of the course is to help participants gain an awareness level necessary to be able to describe major risks, hazards and prevention strategies. The topics that will be discussed include the recognition of major safety and health hazards in the workplace, prevention strategies that include safety and health management systems, OSHA standards with requirements and guidelines, and where to seek out resources.

This informative seminar will offer participants strategies to employ at the workplace to tackle and reduce risk, and make employees more confident and productive. The course is set up as a facilitated, interactive training program focusing on class discussions and group activities. It will provide an update on topics such as OSHA standards, policies, enforcement and regulations.

Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in the workplace.
Apply basic hazard and risk assessment techniques.
Understand basic hazardous materials terms and labeling conventions.
Know how to read and understand an SDS
Know how to evaluate risk
Be able to use OSHA resources
Formulate an emergency response plan for workplace incidents.
Implement an appropriate incident command system.
Understand safety and health terminology and behavior.
Instill a culture of safety.
