ABB Industrial IT Solutions Replace Control System At Ecopetrol

Bogotá, Colombia, October 13, 2003 ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, will upgrade Ecopetrol's existing control system at the Albán, Villeta and Guaduero pump stations to Industrial IT technology.

The scope of supply comprises ABB Operate IT process portals, Inform IT operator stations, and Control IT AC 800M controllers along with engineering software. The contract also includes detailed engineering, programming and system configuration, acceptance tests, start-up and customer training.

"ABB was able to fulfill all of Ecopetrol S.A.'s technical, financial and legal requirements," said the Evaluation Committee of Ecopetrol.

The new Industrial IT-based control system will allow Ecopetrol's headquarters, along with three remote sites, to be connected via satellite. The ABB system will also provide improved response time, real time information and a user-friendly environment.
