ABB Names Rick Hepperla to Head Low-Voltage Drives

Hepperla named senior vice president and general manager, ABB Inc., Automation Technologies, Low-Voltage Drives

NEW BERLIN, Wis., August 30, 2004 . . . Richard (Rick) C. Hepperla has been named sr. vice president and general manager of Low-Voltage Drives at ABB Inc., Automation Technologies, according to Greg Scheu, president, ABB Inc., U.S. Automation Technology Products Division. The Low-Voltage Drives Business Unit is based in New Berlin. Hepperla is responsible for growth of drive sales to ABB's Industrial market, and extension and growth of the company's Commercial HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) market. He also is responsible for the product development and production operation in New Berlin, which serves North America. ABB is the worldwide leader in manufacturing and selling drives; and in the U.S., is a leading supplier of drives to the HVAC market.

Hepperla joins ABB with 23 years of experience in the drives, motors and automation markets. Most recently, he held the position of Business Manager, Standard Drive Products, at Rockwell Automation. Other positions there included director of marketing, commercial marketing manager, regional commercial manager, and senior area manager. Hepperla began his career at MagneTek, Inc., where he held positions that included product marketing/application engineer, field service engineer, and a field sales engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University.

Growth Focus --
As part of ABB's announcement, Hepperla also named members of the leadership team reporting to him. "We have a very strong mix of new drive products that are being well received in the marketplace and enable us to focus on further growth of drives sales to the North American industrial market," he said.

Included in Hepperla's team are: Joe Maloni, vice president, sales; Pam Falvey, vice president, human resources; Kalyan Gokhale, director of research and development engineering; Rick Jasinski, director of operations; Kari Tikkanen, director of quality systems; Cliff Cole, director of marketing; Chris Rian, director, business processes; Jan Allde, vice president, finance and administration; and Lori LaGrow, senior business controller.
