ABB to provide digital automation systems for Indian cement grinding facility

December 15, 2017 - ABB recently won an order to provide integrated digital automation and electrical systems for Emami Cement’s greenfield cement grinding unit at its plant in Orissa, India. Emami Cement, the flagship company of the Kolkata-based Emami Group , is investing in setting up energy-efficient cement plants to meet future demand from ongoing infrastructure investment in the country. Over 50% of the cement capacity in India currently uses ABB’s automation solutions.
With increasing focus on the cement sector to reduce energy consumption and optimize production, Emami cement is implementing advanced automation solutions that focus on minimizing costs and improving plant uptime.
ABB’s electrical and automation solution at the new facility have been developed and optimized based on over a century of experience in electrification and process control in cement production. ABB provides integrated products, services and solutions to help customers in the cement industry optimize their power and productivity.

ABB will be undertaking complete project implementation of supply, erection, testing and commissioning for the electrical distribution and ABB Ability 800xA automation system. The electrical distribution system includes a 220 kV Switchyard with 20/25 MVA 220kV/11kV Transformer, 11 kV Board, Intelligent Motor Control Center, Distribution transformer, medium- and low- voltage capacitors and related accessories. System 800xA DCS will integrate control, electrical and communication systems for optimal visibility into all processes for stable production and efficent use of all raw materials and energy.
