LIVERMORE, Calif.--Sept. 15, 2004--

Program to Create Strategic Alliances to Leverage Adept Products and Technology in New Markets and Applications

Adept Technology, Inc. (OTCBB:ADTK), a leading manufacturer of robotic systems, motion control and machine vision technology, today announced the launch of its Adept Certified Developer's program created to establish a new class of developers that will build standard products based on Adept's automation controller platform. Adept Certified Developers (ACDs) will develop and market specialized products that build upon Adept's world-class motion control, vision, and robot technology. Adept's first 3 developer partners are Cerebellum Automation, Flexomation and RobotDoctor.

"The ACD partnerships are designed to provide our System Integrators and OEM's with a broader range of standardized products for their automation needs. The developers we enlist are experts in their respective areas, and will provide custom solutions based on Adept standard products to address applications that are highly specialized or customized," said John Dulchinos, vice president and general manager of robotics for Adept Technology, Inc. "We believe through our ACD partners our products and intellectual property will be delivered to markets outside of Adept's core market without diluting the focus of our company's efforts."

The newly established Adept Certified Developer Program creates key strategic partnerships with companies that provide unique and dedicated solutions based on the Adept hardware and software platform. Adept Certified Developers will provide custom solutions based on Adept standard products to address applications that are highly specialized or customized. This level of value-added engineering enables OEM's and System Integrators with limited specialized engineering resources to realize dramatic reductions in time-to-market.

Adept Technology designs, manufactures and markets robotic systems, motion control and machine vision technology for the telecommunications, electronics, semiconductor, automotive, lab automation, and biomedical industries throughout the world. Adept's robots, controllers, and software products are used for small parts assembly, material handling and packaging. Adept's intelligent automation product lines include industrial robots, configurable linear modules, machine controllers for robot mechanisms and other flexible automation equipment, machine vision, systems and software, and application software. Founded in 1983, Adept Technology is America's largest manufacturer of industrial robots. More information is available at www.adept.com.
