AE Solutions and Siemens Introduce Safety Instrumented Burner Management System
The S7-300F is an ideal logic solver for burner management systems, says John Cusimano, manager of Process Safety Systems for Siemens Energy & Automation. The S7-300F has the footprint, programming tools and cost structure of an ordinary PLC, but with certification to IEC 61508 up to SIL 3 from TÜV. Best of all, the S7-300F achieves this without any additional hardware or requiring the user to implement any special diagnostics.
Increasing pressure from OSHA and insurance companies is driving demand that both existing and new burner installations conform to newly published standards, says Mike Scott, vice president of Process Safety for AE Solutions. Furthermore, international standards and regulatory agencies have designated that a burner management system is a Safety Instrumented System (SIS), thus forcing users to seek competent guidance in analyzing existing and designing new installations.
The BMS 1300 has the distinction of being the first SI-BMS to be Factory Mutual Approved to FM 7605, IEC 61508 and NFPA requirements for single-burner, dual fuel combustion safeguard applications. AE Solutions is developing additional products to bring highly reliable and cost effective Safety Instrumented System solutions to market for a wide variety of fired equipment applications such as boilers, calciners, dryers, kilns, heat treating furnaces, incinerators, ovens, process heaters, preheaters, reactors, reboilers, recovery boilers, oxidizers and vaporizers.
AE Solutions is an industry-leading systems integrator providing complete system design, configuration and validation services for automation and control system platforms. Their staff of registered professional engineers, certified functional safety experts and automation specialists are skilled in a broad range of areas including process control, process safety, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control systems design.
