Barry-Wehmiller Expands Electrical Control Panel Division

ST. LOUIS — Sept. 27, 2006 — Joseph Wilhelm, Managing Partner of Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, Inc., has announced plans to expand the firm’s Electrical Manufacturing Division to provide advanced control panel solutions to a broad range of new clients. The company, now known as ControlTech Automation, Inc., is a world-class supplier of standardized and customized power distribution and electrical control panels.

As a member of Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc., ControlTech Automation operates independently, but it also serves the Design Group and other engineering consulting firms across the U.S. In addition to direct customer engagements, ControlTech is experiencing significant increased opportunities in the OEM market. ControlTech is equipped to design and produce control panels ranging from an individual machine center to a complete production facility. It can also build control panels based on a client-supplied drawing package and bill of materials.

“For the past 20 years, the Design Group has been a premier supplier of engineered electrical control panels to the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries,” stated ControlTech Director Michael Ripper. “In the last several years our growth has been dramatic, allowing us to expand our operation into our new facility.” Much of this growth has come from new market sectors, such as biotech, water/wastewater treatment, building automation, and energy, according to Ripper.

The new 18,000-square-foot ControlTech Automation facility on North Warson Road in St. Louis offers complete design, manufacturing, and testing services; a UL and CSA listed facility; and short delivery schedules with each panel built to NEC standards. The company serves a growing client base in the packaging, process, pharmaceutical, water/wastewater, and petrochemical industries throughout the U.S.
