Datalogic Complies with New European Union Directives

June 202005
Datalogic will meet deadlines for compliance with two new European Union directives: RoHS - Restriction on Hazardous Substances, and WEEE - Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

Bologna, 20th June 2005. In accordance with new environmental legislation regarding the design and recycling of products sold in the European Union, Datalogic is making significant progress towards meeting the deadlines set in the directives.

Regarding the RoHS directive, which restricts the use of dangerous substances in electronic equipment to contribute to protecting the environment and human health, Datalogic has worked out a plan to change its processes and products so as to make them comply with these new requirements, without compromising the level of quality and reliability of its products. This plan will enable Datalogic to meet the mandatory deadline of 1st July 2006 and ensure that all Datalogic products will be RoHS compliant by this date.

The second directive on Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regards the application of principles of prevention, recovery and safe disposal of such waste, effective as of 13th August 2005. Datalogic is currently in the process of implementing a plan which includes applying the specific symbol to all its user manuals advising customers that Datalogic’s products fall under the WEEE directive and must be recycled accordingly.

In this way Datalogic can assure its customers that it is working together with the Action Programme of the European Union, based on the belief that high environmental standards stimulate innovation and business opportunities, and that protecting the environment is essential for the quality of life of current and future generations.
