Emerson Named 2004 Process Control and Automation Customer Value Enhancement Award Recipient by Frost & Sullivan

July 202004
Boston, Mass. — July 20, 2004 — Frost & Sullivan, a global leader in growth consulting, has named Emerson Process Management, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), the 2004 Process Control and Automation Customer Value Enhancement award recipient.

The annual award is presented to the company in the process control and automation sector that has best demonstrated the ability to expand its customer base, while maintaining the existing installed base, through more innovative value creation and enhancement strategies than competing vendors.

The award recognizes the company’s successful sales growth, customer acquisition and service strategies, and the degree to which those strategies have met customer stated needs and requirements. Such innovation is expected to significantly improve customer interaction and contribute to customer satisfaction.

“The 2004 award in the process control and automation industry recognizes Emerson’s unique ability to drive value for customers with profit-impacting solutions,” said Sathyajit Rao, team leader and industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “Emerson introduced the PlantWeb digital plant architecture in recognition of the potential for manufacturers to drive cost savings and plant efficiency through use of intelligent field devices based on FOUNDATION fieldbus technology.”

“The innovative PlantWeb architecture, combined with a major solutions services initiative by Emerson, has enabled significant improvements in process automation and asset optimization,” continued Rao. “Customers have accepted and recommend PlantWeb not only for compact process industry needs, but also for large complex projects. The fact that PlantWeb has been successful in large projects in China, Asia Pacific, as well as in the Americas and parts of Europe, clearly underlines customer confidence.”

“Since improvement of customer value through process control and automation is the driving objective of our technology and services, we are thrilled to receive this award,” commented John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management. “New business, and especially repeat business, have meant thousands of projects but – more important – customer value creation across the process industries around the world.”

Emerson was announced award recipient during Frost & Sullivan’s 2004 Excellence in Customer Value Enhancement Awards Banquet, Wednesday, July 14 in Boston.
