Flowserve Limitorque Launches The L75 Series Of Electric Valve Actuators

October 142005
DALLAS - October 14, 2005 - Flowserve Corp., a global provider of fluid motion and control products and services, announces the launch of the Limitorque Actuation Systems L75 series of electric valve actuators. The L75 series uses state-of-the-art technology to provide remote control actuation of quarter-turn valves and other rotary devices, including on/off and modulating rotary valve applications. Targeted markets for the L75 series include water and wastewater treatment, copper mining, chemical, petrochemical, process control, industrial applications, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage, among others.

The L75 series adds a new dimension of operational dependability and flexibility to modern processes controlled by computers, programmable controllers, and other electric control equipment. Its multifunction capability permits the use of the L75 throughout the process for on/off, throttling, variable-cycle and any analog or digital control.

Proven through testing as one of the most reliable electric actuators on the market, the L75 series is lightweight, compact and powerful. Featuring either a split-phase capacitor AC-reversing motor or a DC motor, the L75 series drives a valve through a sealed, permanently lubricated gear train to offer a lifetime of virtually maintenance-free operation.

The L75 series is available in eight sizes and produces torques to 3000 in-lb. Housings are designed to TYPE 1 General Purpose; TYPE 4 Watertight; TYPE 7, Class I, Division 1 and 2, Group C and D; and TYPE 9, Class II, Division 1 and 2, Group E, F, and G. A combined location TYPE 4, 4X, 7, 9 enclosure is also available as a "Z" option. The L75 series features a baked polyester finish as its standard coating. Special coatings are available for extreme hazardous-environment applications.

L75 series actuators may be used on the complete line of ball valves from Flowserve Worcester Controls, and on other quarter-turn valves or devices requiring rotary operators. Because of their ability to provide power in both directions through selected arcs from 20° through 300°, the L75 series actuators are ideal for the control of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning duct systems, as well as automatic and remotely operated equipment.

The L75 series can be ordered with a variety of options. These include a cycle length control feature, a feedback potentiometer, a position indicator board, and a heater/thermostat. Other options include a condensation drain plug, a 180° center-off kit, a set of additional limit switches, an AF-17 positioner board, a DFP17 positioner board, a DFC17 controller board, and Modbus/Profibus/DeviceNet digital communication protocols.

"For power, performance, reliability and a wide range of sizes and options, the L75 series offers a strong new alternative as the electric actuator of choice for rotary valve applications, including quarter-turn valves," says Scott Wilkerson, product manager, Flowserve Flow Control, Limitorque Actuation Systems.
