Global Business Forum offers guidance on international markets

March 8, 2009 - The Global Business Forum is HANNOVER MESSE's platform for foreign trade and is designed to facilitate networking and the exchange of know-how in international target markets. The initiators of the Global Business Forum are Deutsche Messe Hannover and the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The Forum's main players are business organizations and service providers seeking to assist small and medium-sized companies in implementing their internationalization strategies.

"With its international character and the broad range of industrial sectors represented, HANNOVER MESSE offers the ideal framework for the Global Business Forum. In particular, for SMEs that want to tap into new growth areas abroad, it is the ideal place to find comprehensive information and make new contacts," explains Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Messe AG.

At the heart of the Global Business Forum is an exhibition in the Pavilion of Hall 11, where business development organizations, service providers and corporate networks are able to present their products and services. On the agenda are high-calibre corporate conferences and forums, which will be held in the Pavilion and at the Convention Center.

The Global Business Forum will be officially opened on 20 April by representatives of the German regional departments of trade and industry and the European Union. They will offer advice on programs aimed at supporting and protecting business activities abroad. The first forum session will examine European cluster policy and its initiatives aimed at cooperation, innovation and competitive strength. Targeted mainly at SMEs, the event will offer detailed information about accessing knowledge banks, translating technical innovations into market-ready products and utilizing shared resources.

The second forum session on the first day will be eagerly awaited. Under the banner "100 Days of Presidency - Barack Obama", representatives of politics and industry will discuss transatlantic relations in the light of current financial, social, environmental and foreign-trade issues.

A further highlight will be the Sixth Lower Saxony Foreign Trade Day, which this year focuses on the opportunities and potential for cooperative ventures offered by the Mercosur countries (South American common market). This region has become a key target market for European companies. The event organizers are the Federal State of Lower Saxony and NGlobal, the new state-run business development organization. The event will be opened by Christian Wulff, Premier of Lower Saxony.

Alongside the BDI, partners of the Global Business Forum are the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the initiative "Deutschland Land der Ideen", the Federal Association of Materials Management and Purchasing (BME), the international business cooperation exchange B2fair, the Handwerk International Baden-Württemberg, the Chambre de Commerce du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI), NGlobal, the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), the Latin America Association (LAV), the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany and the foreign-trade publishing house local global.

A new room concept in the Pavilion of Hall 11 will enhance face-to-face dialogue and exchange among companies.
