Honeywell Delivers Latest Generation Manufacturing Execution Software for Healthcare and Consumer Packaged Goods Industries

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 4, 2002 — Honeywell Chemicals, Life Sciences, and Consumer Goods, part of the Industrial Solutions strategic business unit of Honeywell [NYSE:HON] announced today that it has begun shipment of its most technically advanced and functionally rich version of its core POMS® MES offering. This release of POMS MES 5.0 continues Honeywell’s commitment to its more than 80 validated sites to provide on-going additional value with new capabilities and evolutionary migration paths.

POMS MES is a fully 21 CFR Part 11 compliant enterprise production
management system for the regulated industries, providing control and tracking of all aspects of plant floor execution. POMS MES 5.0 leverages the latest Microsoft SQLserver and Oracle technologies and is certified on Microsoft Windows 2000®. Functionality includes recipe management, inventory management, asset management, production order management, dispensing, electronic batch records, WIP management, and reporting. POMS MES ensures predictive quality while providing a complete history for compliance demonstration and performance improvements.

“POMS MES 5.0 is more technology advanced and easier to implement than ever before." announced Chris Lyden, VP of Chemicals, Life Sciences and Consumer Goods business. "Honeywell customers will be able to achieve a faster ROI through our new functionality that speeds implementations, our highly configurable and robust out-of-the-box capabilities, and our enhanced FasTrack(tm) implementation methodology. Our product direction continues to be validated by a record number of go lives in the last 6 months with the majority of these sites using out of the box software. Our new Web Based functionality allows for more collaborative manufacturing within a single manufacturing site or across the enterprise.”

Diane Beauchamp, Vice-President of POMS Product Management, concurred. “With POMS MES 5.0 we are introducing new technologies such as web-based reporting, a web based material master wizard for managing materials, wireless handheld web functionality based on Windows CE, and thin client execution via Citrix MetaFrame®. In addition, we are bundling previously separate modules that enable graphical viewing of order status (ePIC) and provide flexible integration from plant floor equipment (ECI) through to enterprise systems (EAI) such as ERP and EDMS. This release is one step towards our next generation of software that will focus on unifying manufacturing data across multiple manufacturing sites to provide a global or regional unified manufacturing exchange (UMX).”

With POMS MES 5.0, Honeywell continues to drive down cost and
time-to-implementation, while providing a core application that can be expanded with additional Honeywell modules. These include the POMS eSpec™ Product Life Cycle Management application, the POMS eKPI™ decision support module, PlantScape process control system and Total Plant Batch management system.

Enhanced web based applications such as new material wizards eliminate the need for special software and simplify complex tasks. The ePIC web applicant, previously sold separately, is now included as standard functionality. ePIC allows production managers and remote users to check production status from any computer on the Internet.

Additional new technology enhancements include the embedding of
state-of-the-art integration technologies for bringing control system data, ERP, LIMS, and document management data into POMS MES.
