Invensys Announces New Interface Between SimSci-Esscor's PRO/II and Haverly H/CAMS

May 312005
LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA, USA - May 31, 2005 - SimSci-Esscor, a unit of Invensys Process Systems, and Haverly Systems Inc. have jointly developed an easy-to-use interface between Haverly's popular Crude Assay Management System (H/CAMS) and SimSci-Esscor's industry-leading PRO/II process simulation software. The new interface enables crude assay information from Haverly's extensive databases to be directly imported into PRO/II process simulations. This feature is now standard on the latest versions of the PRO/II and H/CAMS software from SimSci-Esscor and Haverly, respectively.
"Seamless access to accurate crude assay data for use in planning, scheduling, and process simulation systems is key to profitable refinery operations," said Ken Spencer, Vice President, Haverly Systems. "H/CAMS is the system of choice for maintaining and populating crude assay data across the entire refinery value chain. This new interface with PRO/II gives our joint customers yet another avenue to maximize the value of their investment."

"The overall usefulness of any process simulation is highly dependent on the quality of the feedstock information utilized," commented Alastair Fraser, Vice President of Invensys' SimSci-Esscor unit. "This new interface to Haverly's Crude Assay Management System makes it easy for our PRO/II users to incorporate the latest and best crude assay information available into their refinery and petrochemical plant process models, thus helping them to further improve plant yields and profitability through our advanced simulation technology."

SimSci-Esscor's PRO/II process simulation program performs rigorous mass and energy balances for a wide range of chemical processes. From oil and gas separation to reactive distillation, the PRO/II program is among the most comprehensive and easy-to-use simulation solutions available.

Haverly's widely used H/CAMS family of applications, assay databases (which include the worldwide libraries from both BP and ChevronTexaco), and services are dedicated to crude assay management.

Using the newly developed interface, PRO/II users can quickly:
  • access H/CAMS complete crude libraries
  • add and/or modify libraries
  • predict yields and properties of user-defined blends
  • analyze and prepare data on single or mixed oils
  • group crudes
  • display detailed hydrocarbon information from chromatographic analyses
  • generate files that link reports with other models, programs, or spreadsheets
  • select from English, metric, or alternate units for entering and reporting data
