IXXAT Announces CAN Access Via Bluetooth with CANblue
The CANblue from IXXAT is a universal CAN module enabling wireless communication among CAN systems as well as between a CAN system and a PC with a maximum transmission distance of 100 meters.

In addition to the tried and tested PC version of the module, which is supplied with the VCI CAN driver for Windows and enables wireless connection of a Windows PC to the CAN bus, there are now two more versions of the CANblue available to the user.

The new CANblue/Generic, for example, has an open programming interface, which provides the user with functions to transmit and receive CAN messages and to configure the CANblue/Generic. This makes it particularly attractive for customer-specific service and control applications that want to access the CANblue, for example by means of PDA
or via embedded systems.

Using two CANblue/Bridges, a CAN-Bluetooth-CAN bridge can be implemented. This bridge enables the exchange of CAN messages between two CAN systems via Bluetooth, where filters for CAN identifiers can be defined and saved by the user. Message exchange occurs transparently at CAN layer 2. The CANblue/Bridge can thus also be integrated into systems that work with CANopen, DeviceNet or customer-specific protocols.

All three versions of the CANblue hardware are identical and have a 16-bit microcontroller and sufficient memory for buffering of CAN messages. It is connected to the CAN bus via an SJA1000 CAN controller. The bus interface can be switched via software between ISO/IS 11898-2 (high-speed) and ISO/IS11898-3 (low-speed). The CANblue is supplied in a robust metal housing and is externally supplied with power of 9-30 V DC.
